Moose Facts

The New Zealand Wildlife Trust (NZWT) was founded by former scientist and helicopter pilot Ken Tustin. Ken's lifetime of experience in wild animal research and management generated a keen desire to enhance the opportunities for all interested New Zealanders to share his appreciation of wildlife, wilderness and adventure.

• To create an awareness of, and informed interest in both New Zealand's native and introduced wildlife.
• To see New Zealanders appreciate all their wildlife as a key to enjoying responsible out-door adventures.
• To ensure the survival of at-risk species.
• To create and maintain a philosophy of sustainable management of introduced game species where appropriate, which will allow them to be accepted, harvested and enjoyed as part of New Zealand's natural resources.

NZWT aims to foster and encourage scientific research on wildlife issues and to communicate accurate, science-based information in popular and educational forums.
We aim to inspire curiosity, participation, investigation, interaction, adventure, passion and the sharing of knowledge about the importance of NZ's wild creatures.

The New Zealand Wildlife Trust is a Charitable organisation, run by a board of trustees.
NZWT is independant and apolitical.
